Youngsters and Poom do us proud

Posted by James Dall on 9, November 2006

Get in there! 1-0 away to Everton with a ‘weakened’ side. Winning feels oh so good. (If you fancy watchin a bit of the game click here)
I did not manage to watch the game but kept tabs on the radio. The team seemed to play pretty well as a unit. Flamini seemed to be the stand out player. All in all I think as supporters we are all very happy. Of course they were reduced to 10 men and Poll seemed to make a couple of errors of judgement. However as we won I am not going to discuss them.

Adebayor bagged the goal with a header. He speaks about the Liverpool encounter –

I would say that yes, Liverpool is a must-win game. If you hope to win The Premiership, every one is important. But this weekend it is even more so. Hopefully we will all enjoy it and hopefully we will win.

I like his attitude. It will be interesting to see if he starts on Sunday. To be honest when he first arrived in January I was a bit concerned about his behaviour. He had fallen out with Monaco and then also with his International manager but credit to him since he has been with us he has got his head down and worked hard.

Mart Poom who played his first competitive club game in 3 yrs talked about the spirit of the youngsters –

We had a very young side, but everybody gave 100 percent. We defended well and were strong in set pieces and Emmanuel Adebayor scored at the right time. We deserved the win.

Poom replaced Almunia at half time, however Almunia is fit for the weekend game. More news here. Eboue playing surely means he will start on the weekend. If so a back four of Eboue, Toure, Gallas and Clichy is rapid to say the least.

The goal machine Anthony Stokes scored AGAIN this week in the cup. There is an interview which you can read here. He certainly is a prospect. I read that his stay at Falkirk maybe extended in January. Hardly a surprise. If we stays there for a season and carries on like this it will be impossible for Wenger to ignore.

Right enjoy the rest of your evening. A round up of the news tomorrow then i expect a preview on Saturday about Sunday’s game.
