Toure back in, oh and Lehman hates Lampard

Posted by James Dall on 13, December 2006

Morning all, firstly let’s get straight into a bit of team news ahead of tonight’s game. Arsene summarises it all quite nicely for me –

We have Kolo back. But he’s the only one from Sunday. Gallas is still out, Henry is out but Rosicky looks very, very promising and has a small, small chance for the weekend. Gallas too, maybe.

So with a fresh Toure it shall be interesting to see who Wenger plumps for along side him, personally, and I am sorry Senderos but I would go for Djourou. He was excellent on Sunday and his steady performances merit another start. With hopefully Gallas and Rosicky available for the weekend our squad on paper looks strong. The latest on Henry is that he is out until after Christmas. Hardly a surprise in my opinion, I expected him to be out until the New Year. Clearly the plan is to rest him up and make sure he his 100% on his return, that coupled with him playing in a 2 up front should result in goals galore.

We are left with Adebayor, Van Persie and maybe Baptista as cover for Henry, and so far we have coped well. I am not forgetting Aliardiere, however for me I am not sure he will cut it on a consistent basis at the club. Further striker news are Arsenes comments on two of our loanees – Stokes (goal machine) and Bendtner

They both have a future with us and we want to keep them

Interesting he does not mention Lupoli, who scored last night in an Italy under 21’s game. The future is bright of course if we do actually hang onto these boys but I can’t help but feel we need to buy another World Class striker.

After Hleb blazed a shot over he bar on the weekend he has come out and talked about our lack of finishing which has cost us points. No one can deny our finishing has let us down but so have many other things, mainly conceding sloppy goals from set pieces.

There is a little comment here about how Reyes would love to get drawn against us in the Champions League – fair enough…

The final round up of stories is the little feud going on between Jens and Frank, now yesterday mentioned how he does not really have a problem with Drogba but more with the things Frank says –

Lampard is a specialist in insulting people very badly but Drogba doesn’t say a word

He certainly does look a bit cheeky to me, the sort of person who has a real dig while walking past you. Lampard today reminisces about how he was eating in a restaurant and Lehman ignored him – excellent!

Right that leaves with a few points about the game this evening. Once again a must win. An away victory would certainly give everyone a boost. I don’t know about you but when we play these sorts of teams away I do not feel too confident. Please play a 4-4-2, playing the 4-5-1 will be a case of showing too much respect to Wigan. There will be no need to protect a young back four what with the inclusion of Toure. I would like to see this starting line up –

Jens, Eboue, Toure, Djourou, Clichy, Hleb, Gilberto, Fabregas, Ljungberg, van Persie, Baptista.

Now leaving out Adebayor is certainly not due to his form but mainly because he did a lot of running on the weekend and also so we can finally give the Bap a chance. He is an unknown quantity still in the Prem and I fancy him giving some centre backs a real hard time.

More tomorrow, hopefully I will be reporting on an Arsenal victory
