Arsenal to face even weaker Sheffield side?

Posted by James Dall on 28, December 2006

Morning all, time is not on my side this morning so I will get straight into it…

The most intriguing story for me are the comments from Neil Warnock about this weekends game –

Squad rotation may come into it. I will have to be careful who I select against Arsenal and may even play a second XI

Vert interesting indeed, I presume there will be some rotation by us (that will be discussed tomorrow or Saturday morning) but for Sheffield to drop players might really work in our advantage. No disrespect to them, they work hard and are a tough team but player for player we are superior, even more so if they play reserve players. It remains to be seen if Warnock is actually talking the truth though.

Pires talks here about how he would like a return to Arsenal in 2 years time. Not sure he would get in the team to be honest. So that might be false hope, plus I imagine he is just bored a the moment as he has been injured.

Le Boss talks about how the team have grown in maturity recently – mainly reflected for me in the victories against Wigan and Watford but still there is much more progress to come in my opinion which certainly is exciting.

Arsene also discusses the brilliance of Gilberto at the moment, especially with his performance at Watford (backed up by me giving him man of the match yesterday). He says

Gilberto was tremendous [against Watford]. He scored the first goal but as well he was intelligent and dictated the game in the middle of the park. Finally he gets the credit he deserves, which after four years is good.

He has had his critics over the past few seasons, what with his lack of physicality in the middle of the park but this season he has been pivotal in our performances. Plenty of captains performances and has really lead the youngsters in the team. Here is some stuff from the man himself, mainly discussing his goal scoring this season.

Just a quick little thing about Bendtner who really believes he can break into the first team after this season. I admire his confidence in his own ability.

I am just as good as all the others, and it’s only Thierry Henry who is certain to play.

Final note is that Adebayor is out of this weekends clash with a thigh strain, surely this means Baptista will start up front…?! And Djourou looks to be fine for this weekend after only suffering a minor injury.

That is it for today, I am off to do the classic now and pop into town to exchance a couple of xmas pressies. Have a wonderful Thursday.
