Arsenal News Blog on hold for a few days

Posted by James Dall on 23, July 2007

The title is self explanatory. I am really snowed under at the moment and while I am yearning to transcribe my thoughts, right now I am too busy with work. I predict the next blog will be Saturday – I know you are upset but let’s be honest, it is not like there aren’t any other blogs for you to read.

I hope that by Saturday Reyes has departed and we have two wingers to replace the Spaniard and Freddie.

Cheerio – I miss you x

Arsenal dont need ANY wingers. When are people going to understand we’re not a club that buy’s world class players we promote from within and will do once again with the emerging troare being used as cover for rosicky. You will hear wenger say once again “if you dont make room for the youngsters when will they get their chance” we dont REPLACE players with big signings, time for the fans to understand that. We havent replaced henry or vieira with new signings and before you say it eduardo is not a replacement for Henry as we have signed him for his finishing prowess which we needed. So we wont be getting any one winger let alone two stop dreaming. The board have tarnished the good name of arsenal.

i think to go off on one that we dont buy big players when someone suggests we need two wingers. yes i agree we dont buy big players but i also believe we dont promote from within . if we need wingers then wenger will find them but he will buy them young or he will as looks like he is doing at the moment with the purchase of sagna and eduardo buying players who are not classed as young but will reach there peak in there next 3 years starting now hopefully . trust in wenger the only problem is the other clubs with the big american owners are now looking at youngsters , we chase them , cant afford them and then they claim them “babbel “

Mal, I didnt go off on one, I was simply trying to let all gooners know that we will have a great season and should not live in false hope of “big signings” and “new wingers” because its simply never going to happen. Wenger DOES promote from within…cesc fabregas replacing vieira one of the biggest examples. Like i’ve always said eboue will be playing on the right wing rather than right back and wenger has given the clearest indication yet –

wenger: “In the wide positions we can play Alexander Hleb, Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky and Emmanuel Eboue.

“I am just looking to develop the players we have here already”

Relax gooners, we’re gonna have a great season, the only addition’s needed are in the centre back position now that we will lose djourou (loan) senderos (cover) and due 2 the fact that our main centre back’s toure and gallas get dominated in the air and on set peices. Crouch and Alex will testify. However we’ll be back this year, we’re not far from completing a small but breathtaking squad of players with immense potential.

I`d have a wank myself but there arn`t any pictures. Please could you rectify the matter. What, football? Reasonable signings + nobody sold who Wenger wasn`t prepared to lose. Would love to see the back of that twat Senderos.

Arsenal are becoming a selling club – and may pay for it by losing their place in the Champions League next season.

Thierry Henry, Freddie Ljungberg and Jose Antonio Reyes have all departed, with boss Arsene Wenger bringing in only striker Eduardo Da Silva and defender Bakari Sagna.

I believe that lack of investment could see the Gunners miss out on Europe’s top club competition – potentially to bitterest rivals Spurs.

How long will it take for these young players to be ready to be really challenging for the league?

I don’t know – if they become very good players Arsenal are going to sell them. It’s good sometimes to sell top players when they get to 30 or 31, but when I have a look at the Arsenal politics in the last five years we sold our best players: Pires, Vieira, Henry.

If you sell a player and you get money it’s fair enough but you have to realise what you’re losing when you sell a player.

If you sell players who represent the image and the spirit of the club, for example Patrick Vieira, you can spend a lot of money, you can find very good players, but in the dressing room and on the pitch you need leaders.

I think this year is very important for Arsenal. If they don’t perform well and don’t finish in the top four then financially they will be struggling and there will be less money on the transfer market.

“It becomes a downward spiral – unless Kroenke or somebody buys the club.

“I just want the board to realise that if you want to win titles you need the dynamism of the young players, but the experience and maturity of the older players as well.

“If Tottenham finish ahead of Arsenal that would prove the politics at Tottenham have been very good. This is probably the most Spurs have spent in the last decade.

“The last two years they finished one or two points off the Champions League and maybe think now is the time to spend to go a step forward. I think they can get a Champions League spot.”
